WEI is pleased to share very exciting news from our members Natural Forces, Matheson LLP and Flogas and Enercon.
Construction is officially underway at Natural Forces Renewable Energy’s first wind project in Ireland: Tullyhaw Wind Farm, located in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan!
The project will feature a 4.2 MW ENERCON E-138 single turbine and it will operate under a dual Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, combining the government’s RESS 2 program with a 15-year Corporate PPA with Matheson LLP and Flogas Ireland.
The project is expected to achieve commercial operation in June 2026 with a maximum export capacity of 4.2 MW. It will operate under a dual Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) structure: 3.35 MW will be supported through the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment’s Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS 2), while the remaining 0.85 MW will be procured via a 15-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA).
This project is part of a larger partnership with Natural Forces and Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. They have completed a project finance round to develop approximately 30MW of wind farms across Ireland. This agreement secures facilities of up to €45M to support the development of five projects. The combined production of this portfolio will generate enough electricity to power over 20,000 homes per year.
"We’re proud to see our very first project in construction in Ireland. We have dedicated 12 months to securing this financing facility and this milestone is an outstanding achievement for our team, and everyone involved. We are very excited to build on this success and advance our portfolio over the next 12 months,” said Jonathan Coffey, Director - Development Ireland, Natural Forces.
